While getting ready to release the unearthed ‘School Daze’-era soundtracks of Patrick Cowley on the Honey Soundsystem and Dark Entries labels, The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles approached us to curate an evening event on the subject.

On Saturday November 16th, 2013 we put together a small program of music, performance, drag and film outside of the MoCA Design Center space where they were exhibiting a show of Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland related drawings.

With the help of set designers Tally Duke Ford and Jarrod Littlejohn - the concrete in front of the museum was transformed into a 1970s gym locker room scene complete with benches and lockers. Muscle-clad men posed for a cameraman in reference to ‘School Daze’.

In between DJ sets from the Honey Soundsystem crew, former Patrick Cowley collaborator and singer Jorge Soccarras performed live renditions from the Catholic album.

Projected onto the walls of the museum were the beautiful title reels from Fox Studios, the production company that commissioned the soundtracks from Patrick Cowley.
