In 2017 my record label was working with Octo Octa to release her full length album: ‘Where are we going?’ I teamed up with 3D/VR installation artist Ray McClure to conceptualize and produce a music video for the LP‘s second single ‘Adrift.’ We flew the artist out to Ray’s studio in San Francisco to have hundreds of still photographs taken of her in a digital scanning technique called ‘Photogrammetry.’ The resulting video piece, using this imperfect yet deliberate process, was something haunting and beautiful - fitting to the themes and sounds of the song.

︎ Testing Photogrammetry before Octo Octa flies out for the shoot

"photogrammetry struggles with flat colored materials (ex: plain colored clothing) since the software relies on being able to identify matching pixels across numerous images, so if an individual is wearing a plain black t-shirt, it has a very difficult time trying to figure out which black pixel corresponds to which across images"
